KSAT-5 Training offers Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) and renewal classes in Grand Junction and across the Western Slope. Serving Mesa County, Garfield County, and nearby communities, our courses meet Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-12-203 and clearly cover Colorado concealed carry laws and permit requirements.

Colorado is a shall-issue state for Concealed Handgun Permits (CHP). This means that if you meet the legal requirements, the permit must be issued.
To apply for or renew a Colorado CHP, you are required to show proof of handgun training that meets state law. The county sheriff where you apply reviews your training and decides whether it meets those requirements.
If you live in Mesa County, Garfield County, or elsewhere on the Western Slope, it’s important to choose a training provider who understands Colorado law and what local sheriffs expect to see when reviewing your application.

Your Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) remains valid if you move to another county within Colorado. The permit is valid statewide for five years from the date of issuance, regardless of which county originally issued it.
Please note that Colorado law requires you to notify the sheriff’s office that issued your permit of your new address within 30 days of moving. Failure to update your address within this timeframe may result in a Class 1 petty offense.

Colorado Revised Statutes
§ 18-12-203
requires Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) applicants to show handgun competency through qualifying training. A compliant CHP course should include:
• Safe and responsible handgun handling and storage
• Core shooting fundamentals and marksmanship skills
• A clear explanation of Colorado self-defense and use-of-force laws
• Practical or live-fire handgun instruction, when required
Approved training may be used for both first-time CHP applications and permit renewals, provided it meets state standards and is accepted by the issuing county sheriff.
KSAT-5 Training delivers Colorado CHP courses built around these requirements, with a strong focus on safety, legal understanding, and practical skills you can confidently apply.
